Borrowing a thought from one of the greatest leader in the western world in the person of President George Washington, he said :

“Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor . . .

Today, November 30, 2009, We, the Evangelicals in this City of Golden Friendship, Cagayan de Oro City, join together with every Kagay-anon in fulfilling our utmost duty to acknowledge and give thanks to the Almighty God for all the favors, blessings and the good things that the city enjoyed from each foundation, for sustaining us all these years and for protecting us from all harms.

Today, We are in one accord with every citizen of this great city in expressing our gratitude to the Almighty for taking care of our family, for preserving all our human institutions and for the love that bond us together as one people regardless of our differences.

Today, we pray that this Thanksgiving day may be a time of both rejoicing and reflection, as well as a time of reconciliation and fellowship and may also be a time of rededication and renewal; a time of determination and decision, that we will each give our whole heart, mind, and strength to the development of this great city that Almighty had entrusted to us.. In the face of whatever danger and challenge that may oppose us in the future, we pray that we will be the ones that will rise up to reclaim the blessings and favors of our God for our children and our children’s children. Happy Thanks giving !

First time in the History of our City that a THANKSGIVING DAY was held. Last November 30,2009 the various religious groups, Muslim community, Lumads ( the natives), civil society, government agencies, students, NGO’s, Arm Forces and the National Police join hands in Prayer of Thanksgiving. This endeavor was envisioned by the Ministerial Association of our City which is headed by our beloved Bishop , Rev. Genesis Udang. He presented the idea to a City Councilor whom adopted the resolution and endorsed the same to the City Council. Praise God, A City Ordinance was approved declaring November 30 as City’s Thanksgiving day. Highlight of the event was the Prayer of Thanksgiving and the Prayer for the Governor , Congressmen and other political leaders.
