TT : Diagnosed with the big "C"

Posted on

As I am writing this post for Thankful Thursday.. my heart is heavy. This past 5 days has been so hard for us as a couple… as a church. I wanted to blog about on the first day we got the news but I was still on the state of shock . I just do not have the strength and courage to express my feelings and thoughts.

A very close friend of ours was diagnosed with the big “C” … what is more shocking was it is already on its 4th stage. The Cancer cells already spread to the other internal parts of the body. It is something upsetting since she is healthy as a cow and never been sick with any illness. Being a radio anchor of a health program … she definitely is health conscious. Why do bad things happens to good people? Forgive me Lord if I was able to ask that question. I just can not help thinking about the pain… the struggles.. her husband … the kids… the ministry.

Now, its day 5… shocking as it is , we have already accepted the reality. Who we are to question God’s sovereignty? Our consolation is that in the midst of this chaos GOD IS IN CONTROL! We can remain hopeful for a miracle to happen. I thank God that my friend’s faith remain strong in the midst of adversity. She is positive that the genetic curse of the family will stop in her . She claims that she will be the last victim ( She is the 9th in the clan to have it.) .She is hopeful that just like her niece she will survive.

I Thank God that His miracle is slowly unfolding. A doctor told us that for a stage 4.. she looks healthy. She supposed to vomit blood, to feel weak and sick. I thank God that though everything is falling around… she remained steadfast and immovable in her faith. I thank God for the brethren who willingly gave their financial support. As of now, they are already in Manila for medication. If you are willing to pray for her or help her in whatever way you can… pls leave a comment.

  1. Hello Grace, I am so sorry to hear about what happened to your friend. Frankly speaking I am so shocked why Filipinos are now starting to have that kind of disease that big "C", never in my wild dreams that filipino could be inflicted with that disease because we have a different lifestyle comparing the people here in US.
Two years ago my step-daughter died of cancer too and some of my DH relatives and friends. I've seen how my step-daughter suffered so much until to the last end, it was painful to see her suffered so much and I hope you guys will be ready about it.
Is she going to take chemo or radiation? For me I don't have any trust with this two things it seems that they are toxic too.
Anyhow, I will pray for your friend. Hang in there God is good in anyways. God bless!

  2. Praying for your dear friend. Remember, only GOD knows the outcome!!

If you would like a prayer button, go to: and ask Edie to make you one so that we can all put it on our blogs. Just tell her I sent you. She does them free when it is urgent requests. She is a precious lady.

Blessings, hugs, and lots of prayers,

  3. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I have so many dear friends sick with cancer as well, and it is so tough not to question God's purpose. But, I know he is faithful in all things!

  4. My sister-in-law is fighting an aggressive breast cancer right now, so I understand you pain. She also was diagnosed in stage 4. I am praying for your dear friend right now. Thanks for your heartfelt post.

  5. oh, this is so sad. but our God is a miracle working God. nothing is impossible with him.

i don't know of any apartelle for rent on the spot. which part of manila is she going to have her chemo? it's best to find a place near the hospital. i'll see what i can do but let me know which part so i can ask around here if they know a place for rent.

  6. I prayed for her, and I am sure whatever God's will and plan is, it is always good, acceptable and perfect. Our pastor's wife also died of cancer. I don't know why bad things happen to good people. All I know is that life sucks, but we shouldn't confuse life for God. Death comes in whatever form but eternal life is ours in Christ. This will be painful for all of you. I'll be praying.

  7. I ask God for more miracles for your friend and her family. God bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you, and give you peace.

  8. So sorry to hear what happened to your friend. I know how hard it is. How devastated when you know that you do good. Sometimes we ask why me? there are many bad people. im glad that inspite of whats happening to your friend her faith is stil there. Trust God in everything. I prayed for her…
